Who is Slinkachu?
Slinkachu is a artist who is based in London. He creates small scale street art installations and photographs them. The project is called the little people project and it started in 2006. It involves remodeling and painting of miniature model train set characters. These characters are placed, photographed and left in the street. With these he creates scenes that represent loneliness and some that show the way of living in a city. He also includes humour in these scenes.

Analysing His Work
I really like this image as it shows the famous myth of the loch ness monster. The photograph has been taken using the style of a birds eye view and has used a large depth of field. The scene has been presented well and has been thought about. You can tell this by the angle of the image and the objects considered which relate to the message. The message he is trying to get across is monsters only exist in your dreams which is why the image looks very dream like. I like the way that they have used the shoe lace to show the monster in the water. To me this makes it effective as not many people would have thought of doing it this way and it shows his creativity. Also, I like the way they have used a bottle top as a boat because it is an unusual object to use and it creates a great scene.
I like this image because it shows how the soldiers died for us and saved our country. The message he is trying to get across is "remember what they did it for us". In addition I like the way he has used a poppy to show this because it really makes the message clear. This is because poppies represent the remembrance of the soldiers. Also I like how they have put the poppy through the soldier to represent war and the remembrance for them. This image is greatly presented by the poppy and the way it is in the soldiers body. The photographer has used worms eye view to take this image and a medium depth of field. In my opinion it is a good image but could be improved if it was surrounded by poppies.
William Kass
William Kass is a Brazilian artist who also takes part in the little people project. However, for his scenes he uses food like:fruit, vegetables, ice cream and many other types. He introduces the characters to a world where an orange is a sparkling pool and chilies become bomb fires. His aim is to create funny mini dramas to show that everyone has an imagination and it doesn't just go when you grow older.

Analysing his work
This image is about a New Year's party. Kass has created this image by using a cake and foil cups. The message behind this image is to bring the New Year in a creative way. He has used the style of a birds eye view to create this scene. In addition he has used a medium depth of field which I think is good as it let's him get in the full scene. The image is presented well because the angle is good but also the way he has portrayed the scene is remarkable. In my opinion I think it is a great image and he has really created a very attractive scene.
This image is about a man fishing in the lake and the message is you can go fishing whenever you want. I like the way he has used coconuts not only for the lake but also for someone to sit on it. He has used a birds eye view for this image and a small depth of field which makes the scene stand out more. This is a good image because it represents the type of work he does clearly and he has really thought about how he is going to put this scene together. In my opinion it is a good image and he has presented it well and shown the his ideas well which will inspire others.
Who is Isaac Cordal?
Cordal creates some very dark themes with his figurines and the way he creates his scenes. He places his figures in corners of abandoned palaces which creates a dark and evil feeling. Also he shows the destroying of nature which can also show that evil is lurking everywhere. His scenes give a new meaning to important things like family, friends, body, health, job, education, food, wisdom, smiles, children, and even the painful lessons that life teaches us.

Analysing His Work
This image is about a marriage which is happening during the war. You can tell this by the way the bride and groom are wearing gas masks. This scene is quite a dark scene which represents Cordal's work and what his ideas are. Cordal has used a small depth of field for this image which makes this image better as you can see the surroundings. In my opinion this image is good because of the use of gas masks to get his message across also I like the use of gravel underneath the bride and groom as it gives the image extra detail which portrays the darkness behind the image.
This image obviously represents death and Cordal has represented his purpose quite well. I like the way he has bashed the mini figure up and used red paint as blood. I think that the use of a medium depth of field makes this image more believable. To me it looks like a car has hit it as it is in the middle of the road and there is blood on it. Again this represents his type of work and it is a very good image to do so as it is very dull.
My Test Shots
These are my test shots to try and see if I can focus on the little person. I think it started of okay then it went blurry and I realized I didn't have auto focus on that's why it wasn't focusing. When I put auto focus on the camera focused better on the little person so I had a better chance of getting it right. It may have took long but I eventually got there in the end.
Shoot 1
Plan
For this shoot I am planning on using the school sand pit and putting a flower on top of the sand to show that it is that it is like a memorial place for someone close to them. The camera settings I will use are focus point and depth of field. I will focus on the figure and I will use a medium depth of field to get the result I want. Hopefully it will show the theme of darkness/death so it will follow the theme of my other shoot that I have done. I will need to use more than one figure to make it look more realistic so the story stand out.
What I Will Need?
- Sand pit
- Flower
- Figures
Edited Work
I have picked a random image from my photos and I decided to experiment with it to see what it would look like with a little editing. In my opinion I think it has turned out alright. The tools I used were brightness and contrast and the patch tool. I used the brightness and contrast tool to reduce the brightness as the image is a unhappy image and if it has a darker exposure or brightness you can tell the mood of the image. I used the patch tool to patch up the hole in the sand so it looks a little better you can notice this change a little but its not that noticeable. I have also noticed that I need to make the memorial site a little better as the are lumps by it. This is something I will keep in mind for when I do this shoot again.
Analyzing My Work
Worst Image
Best Image
This is the best image because It is more focused on the slinkachu characters. Also you can partly tell what the story is but its still isn't quite clear.
How Can I Improve?
I can improve this shoot by creating something to try and tell the story. An idea would be to use a cross or a poppy so that it not only shows death in like a tragic way it could also show death in a good way. I am not saying that death is a good thing I am saying that showing death in this way gives a more memorable thing as soldiers fight for our country so it make a more memorable moment.
What Will I Need ?
- Cross/Poppy
- Soldiers and some ordinary people
- Sand pit
- Maybe I will add a small England flag
- Then I will also need
- White paper
- Red Felt tip
- Small blue plastic straw
This is the type of cross I will probably use for the shoot. I know it is a religious cross but I thought it would look good considering it is thin. Also I think it will be good considering some soldiers are actually religious so it will be like a peace sign and as if people are saying "May God be with you" I will get one of these from home because i have one somewhere and I think it will be useful for this shoot.

Shoot 2
Plan
For this shoot I am planning on creating a memorial scene to show the theme of death like Issac Cordal's work. To do this I will create a background that looks like a memorial and I will place my figures around the cross that will be in the middle of the scene to show that someone has died. I will put soldiers either side to show that it was someone important.
Research On This Theme
I have decided to do some research on the subject of memorials because I wasn't to sure what they looked like. I found out that people do like different things for a memorial. This may include statues, crosses or special holidays named after them to help there spirit live on. An example of a day that could be named after someone is St Andrew's day.
St Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, he is celebrated on the 30th of November each year. He is known because he is said to be a disciple of Jesus and he is said to of went to Greece to preach about Christianity. It is said that he was crucified in Greece on a "x shaped" cross. Explains the cross on the Scottish flag right. As well as having a day he is celebrated each year there has been a chapel built for him where it is said that some of his remains are kept.

My Images
Analysing My Work
The way in which this shoot turned out sort of how I wanted it to turn out I just think it needs more of a story behind it which is what I will do in my next shoot to achieve a grade 9. This will explain what's in the image without me telling you what is going on.

Shoot 3
Plan
For my first shoot I plan on using the little figures and some rope to look like my figure commit suicide. I will do this by tying the rope around the figures neck and the tying the other end of the rope to a tree. Hopefully this will make it look like my character has committed suicide. I plan on using a low exposure so it is dark but not too dark so you cant see the image. I will use a small depth of field to see how it looks but then i might change it too a medium to debate which is better to use for this shoot. The best place to do this would be up by PE where the trees are.
Additionally I might to make the idea more my own add like a crime scene, I will do this by using my brothers Lego police car and police man and put them at the bottom of the tree. Also I might make like a sort of crime scene tape and put it around the tree. This will be done by using straws and yellow paper and in red pen I will write crime scene on the yellow paper. Then I will stick the yellow paper to the straws to make it look like actual crime scene tape. If i do this i will have too use a large depth of field so we can get a better look of what is going on.
I might edit the image if it is needed but i don't really think it will need editing. This is because there isn't really anything to edit but if it needs editing i will edit it.

Analysis of My Work
This shoot didn't go as well as I had hoped it would. I feel that it doesn't look as realistic as it should because the tree is bigger than the actual figure. To improve this shoot I need to find a way to make it look as realistic as my inspiration does. To achieve this I could possibly try and see if I can make the depth of field larger than it is or I could find a smaller tree for the size of the figure.
Best image
This is the best image because the figure is the focus of the image. Also the exposure is just right. However the problem is it doesn't look realistic. If I was to do this shoot again I would try and make the image look more realistic.
Also I think this is one of my best images because it is a silhouette and it shows the dramatic effect of how sinister the actual theme is. In addition I feel it shows a image of the themes like Isaac Cordell's work does and you can see the darkness of the image. To create this image I used a small depth of field and a low exposure to make the image under exposed.
Shoot 4
Plan
For this shoot I am going to use diggers and stones and act like they are building a new road. I am going to focus in on this better than I have on my other shoots. I will experiment with the light to see which of the different exposures look best I will use a large depth of field to show a close up of the image.
Analysing my work
For this shoot I tried to show builders working on a road site. I used two diggers and one construction person to complete this shoot. Also I tried to add a sign to it so that it looked realistic and so the story was clear. In my opinion I don't think thois shoot turned out that bad and I feel I focused in on the slinkachus more. However I feel if it was less blurred it would look better and maybe achieve a level 9.
Worst Photo
Best Photo
I think this is the best photo because the background is blurred and you can see the little people clearly. Also you can tell the story more from this image than any other image.
Evaluation
Overall I think I did pretty good with this topic although I did find it pretty hard focusing on the people. I don't think this topic is as strong as my campaign photography was. My favourite shoot in this was shoot 2 because it was great finding all the research to get a little inspiration for the shoot. I admire Slinkachu for his work because I didn't realise how hard it was until I tried to do it so he has my praises for that.
The artist work I like the most is Isaac Cordal's style because it is quite dark and really shows the themes of death and depression which is his aim. As you can see I tried to follow his depressing theme and the theme all the way through my shoots was out with the old and in with the new. Some of my images show this clearly but others not as well I tried my best in this shoot I just found it quite difficult to focus in on the slinkachu figures.
My favourite shoot that I completed was shoot 2, mainly because I liked doing all the research about memorials and I found out a lot of interesting facts during that shoot. The shoot I think that turned out the best was shoot 4 it turned out how I wanted and it tells a story quite clear.
Overall I think this module had a little success but it was pretty hard so I am not going to say I am not glad to be moving on because I'd be lying. You never realise how hard this module is until you try it.
